Frequently Asked Questions
CAN I JOIN A CLASS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SESSION OR MONTH?
Yes! You can join at anytime, if a spot is available. We will pro-rate the cost of the classes.
WHAT IF I MISS A CLASS?
We have a very flexible make-up policy. You can make-up any class you miss, as long as you are a current student. Before attending, please email or call to ensure class availability.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND WITH MY CHILD TO TRY THE CLASS FOR FREE?
Yes! You can bring a friend to try a class out for free. Just let us know beforehand.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD SHOULD BE IN A PARENT PARTICIPATION CLASS OR NOT?
If your child is more timid or has a hard time focusing, they might need you in a parent participation class, even if it is just for a few classes. We can move your child to the next level when they are ready.
DO I NEED TO BE PRESENT DURING MY CHILD’S CLASS?
No. We do have a lobby, but most parents enjoy the free time to grocery shop or run to Starbucks (both within a block from us). Parent participation classes, obviously, involve the parent.
HOW CAN I SEE IF MY CHILD WILL ENJOY THE CLASS?
We offer a free trial class so you can be sure your child loves it.
CAN I SIGN UP MY CHILD FOR MULTIPLE DAYS PER WEEK?
Yes! Many students attend classes multiple days per week.
HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?
Musical theatre sessions are 10-to-15-weeks. Dance, vocal, and tumbling classes are ongoing all year round.
WHY ARE THE MUSICALS "CLASSES?"
Our productions are written specifically for our cast members. Out program is to educate our students about musicals, plays, and movies in the most enjoyable manner possible. During our rehearsals, our students learn singing, dancing, and acting techniques. Our shows are not intended to copy original works, but are merely an educational review of the shows our students most enjoy. We aim to instill a lifelong love of the performing arts into the hearts of all of our students.
DO I HAVE TO REGISTER AND PAY BEFORE MY CHILD AUDITIONS FOR A MUSICAL?
As our musical theater productions are a CLASS, registration and payment is due before the audition. The audition is a "CASTING AUDITION" where we decide who is going to play each role. However, if a child does not get cast (due to behavior issues or if we don't have a role available for them) we, of course, will refund all registration fees. No teen or child will receive a role without being registered for the class. Absolutely no refunds will be given after the show has been cast. All parts are important. We give each child a role in the musical we know will benefit their learning. We strive to give roles where each student will learn a lot.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO PREPARE FOR A MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITION?
Teens and children who want to be considered for a leading role need to prepare a short song (any song from any genre) to sing solo for us. It is not required to sing a solo at auditions, and those who do not sing solo could still be considered for leading roles, but a solo song is recommended. A solo is required for the advanced teen musical. A monologue is not required.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITION?
All interested in auditioning need to be on time to the audition. First, we gather all auditioning together, and seperate them into groups by age. We "slate" and get to know each invididual. We teach a short dance combination to each group for them to perform for us. We hear everyone together sing a song they all know (normally "Happy birthday"). We ask who can tumble and/or tap dance (we try to utlize each child's talent in all of our productions.) Then, we dismiss those who do not want to sing solo for us. We try to make our auditions as painless as possible. We do not want any teen or child to feel uncomfortable in any way.
